I love making my babes their own homemade treats during longer sittings.
Most often it is a way I like to sneak in more pumpkin to help a sour tummy. During the summer it’s frozen treats that are a pup favorite!
Follow the recipes below!
or
Soft Baked Treats.
Ingredients Needed:
1 cup Oats (turn into flour for best texture)
1 Cup Base ingredient (Mashed Banana, Canned Pumpkin, or even blended veggies)
½ cup Flavors your pup loves: Peanut Butter, Bacon, Bone Broths, etc.
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Choose your base: Mashed Banana or Pumpkin
Add 1 cup of oats (I like to turn mine into oat flour in a food processor)
Add any other flavor profiles your pup needs or likes. Peanut butter (Xylitol free), Bacon bits, Bone Broth, etc..
Mix everything together to form a dough that can be shaped easily. If it is too sticky add more oat flour to reduce stickiness.
Form into silicone molds for fun shapes or create basic shapes by hand. (I promise either ways your babes won’t notice, so do what is easiest!)
Once shaped place treats at least a half inch apart and bake for 20 minutes.
Allow to cool and Spoil your babe!
Refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to 2 months.
Frozen Bites
For Bone Broth Bites:
Make your own broth or buy pet safe premade liquid bone broth.
For Greek Yogurt Bites:
You need 1 cup of Greek Yogurt of your choice and ½ cup of whatever flavor profile(s) you choose (Peanut Butter, Pumpkin, etc…)
Instructions
Choose the type of frozen treats you’re making your babe.
If you make the Greek Yogurt Bites, Mix all ingredients in food blender or processor until well blended.
Choose a simple ice tray or fun silicone mold and carefully pour your liquid into the tray.
Freeze overnight. Any left mix you have be sure to refrigerate while you wait for the cubes to freeze.
Keep treats frozen until you are ready to spoil your babe!
Tips:
If you are short on time cooling the liquid in the fridge helps the cubes freeze faster compared to room temp ingredients.
If you have a messy eater on your hands be sure to use their food bowl or take the treat outside.
